SUBJECT: Pre Season Camp

Dear Xavier Old Boy,

We are writing to you in order to update you on some things happening with the XURFC as we enter our second season in the Collegiate Men’s Division II League. As many of you know the team moved up from Division III after winning 3 straight Division III Championships in 2006-2007-2008. The level of play in Division II is several grades above Division III as we found out last fall going 1-5 in the league play.

To improve upon that Coach Gaffney and I are having the first ever pre season camp for Xavier Rugby and quite honestly we need your support to help us pull this off. I have attached a schedule for the camp for your review. Coach Gaffney and I are working with some of the local club team coaches to give us a hand as we have over 30 players committed to coming to camp 10 days before school starts. We are looking for your financial help for this camp for the following:

•Team Meals- dorms and cafeteria are not open until the 20th for students. We are housing the guys in 4 off campus houses

•Ice -Water and Gatorade for the team. As you can see from the schedule we are taking this very seriously and so are the students. It is hot this time of year and we need supplies

•Medical supplies/ equipment

•Referee fees for the referee clinic and end of camp scrimmage

•One fun activity for team during camp

•Strength trainer

•End of camp cookout

•Shirts for camp staff and players

The club gets limited funding from the school and this camp was not included at the time the budget was done. So Coach Gaffney and I are asking your support. Any amount would be great but the following levels will get you something ( we have no idea what that is yet other than a nice thank from the team)

                  Level 1- Camp Director                  $300.00

                  Level 2- Camp Counselor               $250.00

      Level 3- Activity Counselor     $150.00

             

                  Level 4 – Senior Camper                   $75.00

                  Level 5 – Pee Wee Camper                $25.00

We are trying to raise $3000.00 for the camp expenses. Our goal is to win the Division II Championship in Palo Alto California next year. This camp and the commitment of the team to that goal is the first step.

The support of the XU Old Boys is going to be critical to help us accomplish that mission. In order for the Old Boys to be more organized and keep you in contact with the club please fill out the attached information sheet. We promise not to bug you all the time but will keep you up to date on the progress of the club and what special events are happening. Some dates you may want to get on your calendar are the following:
